The Dodge Viper Cup race in where the last special edition of the Dodge Viper, the SRT10 ACR-X would make its appearance. The event is scheduled for July 2010 and this was announced by Chrysler himself. The event itself would be sanctioned by the existing Viper Racing League. Starting from the Virginia International Raceway (VIR) in Alton, Va the race series would end up, on 22-24 Oct at the Spring Motorsports Ranch, in Pahrump, NV.
Prize money of $200,000 awaits the winners as well as Mopar Vouchers. There is an additional $25,000 awaiting the champion while the second place would get $25,000 and the third place gets $5,000. The engine that drives the Dodge Viper ACR-X is a SRT developed 8.4L V10 engine that produces 640 hp and 605 lb-ft of torque. Its weight is about 160 lbs less than the standard production model. To provide improved performance for the racing event the car has been aerodynamically modified as also the suspensions have been tuned which would also give it added stability on the racing track. Other salient features of the ACR-X are its factory designed and installed fuel cell, race seat, and factory designed roll cage. The only model that would be participating in the Dodge Viper Cup would be the Dodge Viper SRT 10 ACR-x.
The series would be worth a close watch as it would be having competitors and competing car models quite varied in their experience. The Dodge Viper ACR-X would be a new entrant with sights fixed at the GT level of the competition. Gilles had stated that owners of this vehicle would be stunned by the power and acceleration prowess of the vehicle. The car has great navigating capability also and the challenging road course of the race would depict this aspect. He has added that the vehicle is easy to drive at its limits too.
